The Birmingham Maths Group is an informal group established by David Sweeney. The group meet regularly to discuss mathematics and related issues over a drink. It is a good way for IMA members in the Birmingham area to make contact with each other. Their next meeting will be on Thursday 23rd October.

Time: 7pm until 9pm. Location: Room F112, Feeney Building, Birmingham City University, Perry Barr.

This will be a general meeting with no fixed topic. However, David Sweeney will say a little about calculus of variations (carrying on from last month) and the quaternions (and related matters). Please feel free to bring along any ideas regarding other topics.
