Abstract

The Councils of the IMA and the LMS have produced a joint report that was issued to members of both societies in early September. This document sets out the framework and background case for a new mathematical society to replace the two existing societies. The Presidents wish to conduct a consultation with members of both societies and others involved with the future of mathematics in the British Isles. To aid this exercise the Presidents would like to engage in discussion directly with members in universities and in regional branches. This meeting is part of a schedule of visits that would allow them to explain the proposal, answer questions and receive feedback from mathematicians.

This event is coordinated by the School of Mathematical Sciences, University of Nottingham,
