Co-sponsored events are those run by other organisations with support from the Institute. Typically the co-sponsor provides publicity for the meeting in return for reduced rates to attend the meeting for members of the co-sponsoring body.

StringMasters 2010
29-31 July 2010
London

StringMasters was established with the aim of bringing together researchers in string algorithms at all levels (senior, junior, especially graduate students) to study current problems of particular theoretical and practical interest. It is informal, with no scheduled presentations, entirely devoted to new research resulting from the interactions among the participants.

Typically small impromtu groups form, of about 2 to 5 researchers, who share a common interest in a problem. Old collaborations are reinforced, and new collaborations are formed. The workshop is accomodated in several meeting rooms to allow space for the parallel working groups and for general milling around.

All interested participants are welcome, around 25-35 participants are expected.

First International Workshop on Differential and Integral Equations with Applications in Biology and Medicine
7-10 September, 2010
Aegean University, Karlovassi, Samos island, Greece

The objective of the DIEBM2010 Workshop is to bring together established scientists and postgraduate students working on aspects of Mathematical Biology, Numerical Analysis and Computing, Biology and Medicine where Differential and Integral equations apply and to report on current research and future developments; the aim and hope is that the meeting will allow easier communication of cross-disciplinary ideas and will result in acceleration of new collaborations of Applied Mathematicians and Numerical and Computer Analysts with scientists in these two subjects (Biology and Medicine) which more and more rely on modelling and computing for further progress. A half day short course on Integral Equations will complement the works of the Workshop.

Organising Committee: George Flessas and Antonios Tsokaros (Aegean University), Athena Makroglou and Keith Firman (Maths /Biology, University of Portsmouth), Alistair Fitt (Maths, University of Southampton) and Yang Kuang (Maths and Stats, Arizona State University).
