The mission of the IMA is to promote and support the understanding, teaching, research and applications of mathematics. With this in mind the IMA has been working with the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) to support schools and colleges in the Mathematics and Computing Specialism.

Since the end of 2003 Maths and Computing Colleges (MCC's) have been able to become MCC - IMA Affiliates. Non MCC schools are also welcome as IMA Schools Affiliates with all the membership benefits.

Member schools have access to the Institute's publications and resources:

All schools receive a copy of our publication Mathematics Today.
The aim of the Institute is to foster links between Affiliate Schools and our Branches. New schools on joining are sent list of lectures that have been given at branch meetings in the recent past and on request we can arrange talks to Specialist Schools. We are also hoping to build up our database of talks on line.
Membership of the Institute for the Head of the Mathematics Department at the appropriate grade FIMA, MIMA, or AMIMA is included.
We will work with Affiliate Schools and our university representatives to improve communication between the school and their local universities.
Member schools are entitled to use the IMA logo on their letterhead stating that they are an IMA Affiliate School.
The IMA is the joint host of the mathematics careers website that shows the value of mathematics to future employment. This website is located at www.mathscareers.org.uk.

Cost of Affiliate Membership (2008)
The cost of Membership is currently £64.00 per annum.
