How
you can help the IMA respond to consultations
The IMA brings together in a single organisation both the deliverers and
end users of the UK mathematics curriculum. In recognition of this, and
borne out of the IMA's experience in contributing to the Post-14 Mathematics
Inquiry, the Education Service Area is seeking to develop a mechanism
for our committees to consult more effectively with fellow members practicing
outside the education sectors.
To facilitate this we are proposing the establishment of a series of email-consultative
groups based on economic sectors. The intention is for these to provide
direct access to a targeted IMA network of professionals able and willing
to provide advice and informed comment specific to their sector. They
will operate on an ad hoc basis as issues arise.
On behalf of the education committees Professor Nigel Steele, (Honorary
Secretary-Education), Neil Challis, (Chair of the Higher Education Service
Area), and Steve Humble, (Chair of the Schools and Further Education
Group), invite you to support their work by joining the appropriate e-consultative
group. The benefits of joining include:
1) Facilitating the addition of an important dimension to the work undertaken
by the Education Service Area on behalf of all IMA members.
2) In some instances, active participation in an email-consultative group
may contribute to a member's informal CPD record.
To join an Email-Consultative Group please send an email request to Vanessa Thorogood,
Education Officer. As a minimum please cite your full name and indicate
your appropriate group. It would also be beneficial if you could provide
a brief statement of the business undertaken by your employer.
