Frequently Asked Questions

Can I submit more than one application per year, each for a grant for £600?
No.

Can I apply for partial amounts of the grant for different activities per year?
Yes.  You can submit more than one application for grants of less than £600 per year to fund different activities, but the total grant that you will receive not exceed £600.

When does the year run to and from for the Education Grants?
The year runs from 1 January to 31 December.

I’m not a member of the IMA and I don’t know anybody who is.  How can I get the co-applicant section signed?
We strongly encourage individuals to find their own co-applicant.  If you are unsuccessful, please contact Vanessa Thorogood, Education Officer.

Why must the point of contact for a MCC–IMA School Affiliate sign the Education Grants forms?
Having the point of contact sign the forms will confirm that the teacher applying for an Education Grant works for that particular MCC-IMA School Affiliate.

I am the registered point of contact for a MCC–IMA School Affiliate, must I complete the co-applicant section as well?
It will be sufficient to complete this section with 'Same as applicant's details'. But this section must be signed for the application to proceed.

Can I apply for a grant to go towards the costs of my tuition fees/living expenses?
No.  The Education Grants was not set up to fund associated costs of an individual's education.  Please see the Education Activities Relating to Mathematics section on the Education Grants page for the types of activities the grants will fund.

Can I submit my application electronically?
If you submit your application form electronically, a hard copy is still required as we need a signed copy.  Your application will not be considered until the Institute’s Education Officer is in receipt of your signed application form.  Electronic signatures are not accepted.
