Membership of this innovative programme will bring the full advantage of the IMA services from which 5000+ members currently benefit.

The Institute recently conducted a survey of 1,000 members under the age of 35 as part of an ongoing programme to ensure the views and requirements of younger people are considered. We aim to increase the contribution of younger mathematicians to the running of our activities and this scheme is part of that process.

Mathematics Today

The Institute will provide one copy of Mathematics Today for each mathematics student, to be sent to the member department for distribution to individuals.

There will also be opportunities for student representatives to be invited onto the editorial board of Mathematics Today.

We hope that this scheme will strengthen the links between member universities and local branches and students will be encouraged to attend branch meetings which include talks on interesting topics.

Careers Advice

As part of the scheme the Institute will assist to bring together a selection of established Mathematicians from commerce, education, industry, the public sector and research to talk about their work.

Cost

The IMA provides copies of Mathematics Today at cost, approximately £10 per year per student.
