Graduate
Training Scheme
Differences between these requirements and those of the IMA CMath/IPD scheme
- CMath requires five years experience where, at four years, the GTS scheme is shorter.
- IPD does not specify the need for an employer’s induction. However, such knowledge is implicit in the competence M2 to demonstrate mathematical skills in the context of the employer’s business.
- The GTS requirement specifies use of a training plan and recommends keeping a logbook. The IPD scheme involves an implicit cycle of assessment and achievement that serves as, or could include a training plan. The IPD scheme is not prescriptive about the form documents should take but encourages detailed record keeping.
- A GTS should provide a mentor for each graduate with meetings at least twice a year. The IPD scheme recommends candidates to use mentoring but is not prescriptive. Not all members work in ideal circumstances but we anticipate that medium and large organisations will include this provision in their training programmes.
