The simulation of the NC-shape grinding process consists of two parts. The geometric-kinematic simulation represents the workpiece and includes a process force model. The finite element simulation of the grinding machine considers the spindle and the grinding wheel. The process is coupled with the structure by using the predicted process forces as Neumann type boundary conditions. Adaptive finite element methods achieve the desired accuracy at minimal numerical costs. A dual weighted error estimator for structural dynamic problems is applied to the spindle-grinding-wheel-system. The talk concludes with a discussion of numerical results.
