Education
Established in January 2002, is an independent committee which acts as
a single voice for the mathematical community, seeking to improve the
quality of education in schools and colleges.
American Mathematical Society
Founded in 1888 to further mathematical research and scholarship, the
American Mathematical Society fulfills its mission through programs and
services that promote mathematical research and its uses, strengthen mathematical
education, and foster awareness and appreciation of mathematics and its
connections to other disciplines and to everyday life.
Association of Mathematics Education Teachers
Supports and represents the interests of all those engaged in mathematics education in higher education institutions or in partnership with higher education institutions.
Association of Teachers of Mathematics
The Association supports the teaching and learning of mathematics by encouraging
the joy of maths, developing the understanding of how people learn maths,
sharing and evaluating teaching and learning strategies and promoting
new ideas and possibilities.
Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute
The Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) is a national collaborative venture among nearly thirty leading mathematical institutions around Australia.
European Mathematical Society
The purpose of the Society is to further the development of all aspects
of mathematics in the countries of Europe. In particular, the Society
aims to promote research in mathematics and its applications.
Council of Mathematical Sciences
Established in 2001 by the IMA, LMS and RSS to provide a joint forum.
European Society for Mathematical and
Theoretical Biology
ESMTB is a nonprofit organisation. The purpose of the society is to promote
theoretical approaches and mathematical tools in biology and medicine
in a European and wider context.
Joint Mathematical Society of the
UK (JMC)
Provides co-ordination between the Constituent Societies and generally
to promote the advancement of mathematics and the improvement of the teaching
of mathematics
London Mathematical Society
The Society was founded in 1865 and was granted a Royal Charter in 1965.
The Society was established for the promotion and extension of mathematical
knowledge.
Mathematical Association
The Association exists to bring about improvements in the teaching of
mathematics and its applications, and to provide a means of
communication among students and teachers of mathematics.
Operational Research Society
Operational Research ("OR"), also known as Operations Research or Management
Science ("OR/MS") looks at an organizations
operations and uses mathematical or computer models, or other analytical
approaches, to find better ways of doing them.
Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences
PIMS has the objectives of: Promoting research in mathematics;
Strengthening ties and collaboration between the mathematical scientists in the academic community, in the industrial and business sector, and in government;
Enhancing education and training in mathematical sciences, and broadening communication of mathematical ideas; and
creating strong mathematical partnerships and links within Canada and with organizations in other countries, focusing on the nations of the Pacific Rim.
Royal Statistical Society
The Royal Statistical Society develops, fosters and disseminates statistical

Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics
SIMA works to ensure the strongest interactions between mathematics and

The Society for Mathematical Biology
The Society provides a forum for discussion of research in biology, mathematical-biology,
and mathematics applied to or motivated by biology.
UK Mathematics Trust
The UK Mathematics Trust organises national mathematics competitions in
the UK for 11-18 year old school pupils. These range from popular "mass"
Maths Challenges to the selection and training of the International Mathematical
Olympiad team (IMO).
