As Marketing Director I am responsible for putting together the financial budgets with the management team. As a result of this I recommend how much money I need, to support each brand and to reach these budgets. Then I need to allocate it to TV, Posters and promotions e.g. buy 1 get 1 free, to ensure we sell the correct number of batteries. I negotiate with advertising and media buying agencies discounts based on the amount of money I am willing to commit. I monitor sales weekly using mathematical analysis to make sure we always sell the correct number of each type of battery. I also monitor the budgets for advertising, research, and salaries to ensure the money is spent effectively. The marketing function ensures we understand consumer needs and therefore we carry out research. We use maths to analyse the data and therefore make plans to ensure our products meet all the changing needs e.g. better performance and longer lasting in portable CD players. |
