4th IMA International Conference on Mathematics in Transport

Date: Wednesday 7 – Friday 9 September
Location: University College London

This is the fourth IMA conference on mathematics in transport, in which we will be celebrating Richard Allsop’s contributions to the development and application of mathematical and statistical modelling. Richard, who will become emeritus at the end of September 2005, has contributed to this field over a period that spans 5 decades, and has participated in each of the three earlier conferences in this series.

The aim of this conference is to bring together academics and practitioners with an interest in mathematics in the fields of transport planning, transport safety, and traffic management across the modes. Papers are sought that describe novel methods and applications of mathematical and statistical methods in transport. Papers will be refereed and selected ones published after the conference.

Organising committee: BG Heydecker (chair) University College London, MGH Bell (Imperial College London), M Carey (Queens University Belfast), MJ Maher (Napier University), MJ Smith (University of York), B Waterson (University of Southampton), DP Watling (University of Leeds), CC Wright (Middlesex University)

Call for papers: Those wishing to contribute papers will be accepted on the basis of an abstract of 300-500 words, which should be submitted to the Conference Officer by 11 March 2005. Authors will be notified of the acceptance of their papers by 8 April 2005, and the final full length papers to be presented will be required by 15 August 2005.
